Info about the Wickey categories

Can these items only be purchased online?

As we are exclusively an online business, our products can indeed only be purchased online. Let us give you an insider tip: stop by our Facebook page every so often, because we regularly surprise our friends with cool (discount) campaigns!

Is there a catalogue or brochure for the playground equipment on offer?

We care deeply about the environment, and therefore don't print catalogues. In our online shop you can find everything you need to create a unique haven for your kids.

Do you have a showroom?

Currently, we are not planning a showroom. However, if you live nearby or find yourself in our vicinity, you are welcome to drop in and see us: we have erected a handful of climbing frames on our site. Of course, you can also take a look at our inspiration page and get an idea of our climbing frames there.

Is Wickey climbing equipment also suitable for public use?

To make sure that playgrounds, schools or kindergartens are well equipped, we offer playground equipment for the public sector as well. Our PRO and Hy Land climbing frames comply with the European standard EN-1176 and are suitable for public use. More playground equipment for the public area can be found here: Commercial playground equipment

Is planning permission required for some Wickey playground equipment?<

Since jurisdiction can vary not only internationally but also regionally, we recommend that you inform yourself about the current guidelines at the building authority of your municipality/city.

When I no longer have any use for the playground equipment, how can I dispose of it?

Take care to ensure correct disposal after dismantling. Ask your local council where you can dispose of the waterproof wood.

Should Wickey playground equipment be serviced/checked regularly?

As with any article of daily use, traces of use can also appear on our play towers. Therefore we recommend, that you regularly check the tightness of the screws and planks as well as the accessories on your playground equipment.

How can I add to my climbing frame

Take a look in our online shop at your leisure: the accessory parts on offer can easily be attached to every climbing frame. The individual extension modules for frames cannot currently be ordered separately.

Which additional items should I order?

Definitely an anchor to cement into the ground. These are essential, so that the climbing frame or swing is as secure as possible. The anchor we recommend for each product can be found on the individual product pages.

Which platform heights are possible, and how do I choose one?

With Wickey, you will find climbing frames and playhouses with the widest range of platform heights. The perfect frame for you depends on your requirements and desires: is your garden fairly small, and are your children only just taking their first cautious steps into the world of climbing frames and swings? In this case, a climbing frame with a 90 cm or 120 cm platform and a short slide might be the perfect choice. Large climbing frames with a platform of 150 cm or 210 cm and add-ons are perfect for older kids - and long-term play pleasure.

Where can I find the precise measurements of the climbing frame?

The last image in the gallery on the relevant product page provides you with the length, height and width of your favourite items.

Does every accessory fit every climbing frame?

Steering wheels, binoculars, etc. can be mounted onto every climbing frame, precisely where you think they work best. Slides must, of course, fit the platform of your climbing frame.

How many children can play on a climbing frame at the same time?

In principle, there are no rules regarding the number of children who can play. You should, however, remain mindful of the fact that the individual platforms can withstand a maximum weight of 100 kg. The individual elements, such as swings, slides etc, should not be loaded with more than 50 kg.

How many kilograms (maximum) can a climbing frame bear?

With the following guidelines, you can get a general idea: our swings/crossbeams can be loaded with a maximum of 140 kg, and our standard swing seats for children can bear 50 kg. The maximum load for the individual platforms is 100 kg.

Is the use of safety mats absolutely required?

The use of safety mats is obligatory for public areas. The number of the required mats and where to place them, can be found on the corresponding product page and in the PDF document below the product details. There is no legal regulation for the private use of our playground equipment. However, if your tower is installed on hard ground (e.g. stony ground), we recommend the precautionary use of fall protection mats.

Can I attach a swing to a tree?

In principle, this is, of course, possible. You will need a resilient branch without forks, which could be dangerous to your children as they play on the swing. Our round swing clamps are perfect in this situation. Please note, however, that attaching the swing to other objects is at your own risk and responsibility.

How should a swing set be attached?

As with our climbing frames, the posts of the swings must be embedded into concrete with anchors. The anchor we recommend for each product can be found on the individual product pages.

How much space do I require for a swing set?/safety distance

Generally, we recommend that there is a safety distance of two metres between the swing and any other objects/obstructions.

How many kilograms can a swing set and a swing bear?

With the following guidelines, you can get a general idea: our swings/crossbeams can be loaded with a maximum of 140 kg, and our standard swing seats for children can bear 50 kg.

Can I also buy sand from Wickey?

You cannot purchase sand from Wickey. You can, however, find high-quality play sand for your kids in all well-stocked DIY stores.

Why doesn't the lid of the sandpit close completely?

The small gaps between the boards, or between the lid and the pit, prevent the formation of mould due to the build-up of moisture.

How can I prevent the formation of mould or fungus?

Our wood is pressure treated. With this process, a waterproofing agent is pumped into the wood at high pressure. This process protects the wood against decomposition, as well as repelling organisms whose presence could lead to the destruction of the wood.
You can also actively prevent mould by unpacking the sand immediately after purchase, and leaving it to dry until assembly.
