Climbing frame with slide and wooden roof Wickey Smart Rival

    About Wickey Smart Rival

The exciting race for victory is underway with the spectacular Smart Rival! The opponents take up their starting position and wait, enthralled, for the starting signal. BOOM - let the wild ride begin! Right from the off one canny competitor takes an enormous lead with a good swing. Over the inclined climbing ladder and with the help of the climbing holds it's off to the top of the platform, where the leader surveys the situation. Thankfully there's a sandpit because without it the little athlete would have completely overlooked the footprints of the little fox creeping stealthily towards the finish line. But he didn't take the slide into account, because it makes things even more exciting! Having taken a swing with the help of the safety handles and rushed down the slide, the little pro literally flies towards the finish line! The crowd roars and the opponents are welcomed at the finish with thunderous applause. That was fun!

Note: The delivery includes sufficient tarpaulin to design the tower according to the suggested design in picture 2.

Great cllimbing frame. Parts are missing and the wood has a great vintage look!

    Solid climbing frame
We've just finished putting the climbing frame together. All in all a great climbing frame. Delivery was within the specified timeframe by courier. Neatly packaged - everything was great. However, we did have problems with the assembly in the beginning, as the instructions in our opinion were not always clear. So we actually had to disassemble and reassemble one section again. During assembly, we also noticed that the screw protection caps were not particularly well designed. These are so tight that it was virtually impossible to get the tool out of the cap again without breaking it. All in all, it took us and two people about 12 hours to set up. Apart from that, the quality is really great and we're looking forward to watching our grandchildren discover and play.
Grotheer (Review from Germany translated into English)
We're looking forward to our climbing frame and would happily buy again
First of all, I would like to say that we were very satisfied with Wickey. Unfortunately, we had a few difficulties with the delivery, but the customer service was great about it. We are now waiting for good weather to put the climbing frame together. But we are very much looking forward to using it soon. Many many thanks to the team
Ela (Review from Germany translated into English)
    Beautiful, classic climbing frame
Swinging, sliding, climbing... There's nothing missing here. I am also very satisfied with the quality of the material.
Sina (Review from Germany translated into English)
    Everything kids need
We would recommend this climbing frame for families with smaller gardens who still want to have lots of options. Assembled it on a Saturday and now our daughter can swing, slide and climb whenever she wants to.

Climbing frame with slide and wooden roof Wickey Smart Rival

The most important at a glance
We want our climbing frames to provide endless adventures and years of fun. Of course, the safety of your kids is also of utmost importance. To ensure all this, here is the most important information for use before and during the assembly of the climbing frame.

    • Optimal accuracy of fit

Not all of our wood elements are pre-drilled, because drying or moisture absorption can still warp the wood before assembly and make it difficult to achieve optimal assembly.

Before the actual assembly, simply pre-drill yourself to avoid cracks and damage to the screws.

    • Individual characteristics

We love the impregnated Wickey wood for its characteristic features. Because each piece is unique, and provides endless fun as part of our playground equipment (Drying cracks are permissible according to DIN 4074).

Colour changes due to impregnation are quite normal.

Cracks with a length of up to ¼ of the piece of wood are harmless.

    • For the safety of your kids

For the highest level of safety, we recommend setting the posts of our playground equipment in concrete with original Wickey anchors. Our assembly video provides helpful tips! Add our anchors to your order now and benefit from 10-year guarantee on all wood components.

Set in concrete with fast-hardening cement - No cement mixer required!

    • As unique as your kids

Choose the right slide and tarpaulin for your climbing frame from a variety of bright colours. If you want, you can also give the climbing frame a creative coat of paint (paints that are certified according to DIN EN 71 Part 3 are safe for children and the environment).

We have the right product for every adventurer!

    • For the perfect result

For a perfect final result and endless fun, we recommend lightly sanding the edges created by the production process.

Light sanding is all it takes!
Depending on the surface, choose a coarser or finer grit sandpaper.

      Tips & Tricks

      1. Install the play tower and place it on the space designated. Please keep a safe distance in accordance with the installation instructions.
      2. Mark all post of the tower on the ground and dig frost-proof holes (Ø30 x T70 cm) into the soil.
      3. Place the play tower and install all the anchors, if possible on the hidden side.
      4. Support the anchor with stones or the play equipment with wooden wedges until the play tower is horizontal.
      5. Pour concrete up to about 10 cm below the surface. When the concrete is dry, the remaining hole can be filled with topsoil.
      Wood from Europe new

Get the best tips on our wooden products here

Solid spruce and pine wood from Europe give our playground equipment its individual character. As a sustainable material, they offer a natural look and are particularly durable outdoors. We place special emphasis on the responsible use and quality of our wood to ensure that your children can play safely.

      Wood from Europe

      • Most of our wood comes from domestic forests in southeastern Germany.
      • For our playground equipment we use impregnated pine or spruce wood.
      • Wickey wood stands for exceptional durability outdoors.

      Natural and sustainable cultivation

      • We place special emphasis on the quality and responsible use of our wood.
      • Our wood grows slowly, which makes it harder and more durable.
      • The impregnation makes the wood more durable and is biologically safe for humans, animals and plants.

A living material with optimal fitting accuracy

      • It is perfectly normal for the volume of the wood to change due to moisture absorption/drying.
      • Because of this, unpack your wood directly and let it dry for at least 2 days before assembly.
      • Subsequently, some wooden elements should be pre-drilled by yourself to ensure accuracy of fit and stability.
      • We recommend lightly sanding the edges created by the production process. Depending on the surface, choose sandpaper with a rougher or finer grit - light sanding is sufficient.

In our assembly video, you will find many helpful tips for the assembly of your climbing frame!

      Boiler-pressure impregnation

      • Boiler pressure impregnation that protects against environmental factors increases the service life of your playground equipment.
      • The wood is therefore particularly easy to maintain, as no additional sanding and painting are required, saving you effort, time and money.
      • Due to the mixture of leaking resin and the ingredients of the pressure impregnation, greenish colouration may occur. This is completely harmless.

Immediately unpack the wood and allow it to dry for at least 2 days so that any moisture from the impregnation process is completely gone from the wood. This ensures optimal conditions for the next steps and the longevity of the wood.

      Individual characteristics

      • Knots, grains and pith are part of the natural characteristics of wood.
      • Cracks with a length of up to ¼ of the sawn timber length and ¼ of the cross-section depth are statically harmless!
      • Drying cracks are permissible according to DIN 4074.

Are the wooden parts of your playground equipment showing cracks? Send us a photo via our contact form. Our technical staff will be happy to advise you.

      Superficial colouring

      • Superficial white to greenish spots are harmless.
      • They are caused by leaking resin and the ingredients of pressure impregnation, which collect on the surface.
      • Their appearance will even out over time due to outdoor weathering.

Heavily affected areas can be lightly sanded!

Do you prefer things to be colourful? Choose a colour that is safe for children and the environment, certified according to DIN EN 71 Part 3.

      Frequently asked questions

Should I fix my playground equipment to the ground?

Even if the playground equipment if stable and safe, we always recommend anchoring your playground equipment in the ground to ensure your children's safety. Your climbing frame or swing will become even more stable once you anchor it! All anchors are screwed to the climbing frame posts and — depending on which type of anchor you choose — cannot be seen from the outside. In general, we recommend that all posts leading to the ground are anchored in the ground. Ladders and climbing walls should also be fixed with two anchors each. You can find more information in the respective product descriptions.

Tip: Our angle anchors are perfect for every climbing frame

How is the base frame constructed and how are the anchors set in concrete?

Proceed as follows when concreting in the anchors/erecting the base frame:

      • Assemble the base frame and place it in its final position. Please observe the safety distances indicated in the installation instructions.
      • Stake out the places around the posts where the base frame is to stand. Position the base frame so that all holes can be excavated easily. Tip: the holes should be approx. 70cm deep and have a diameter of around 30cm.
      • Mount the anchors on the inside of the posts.
      • Place the basic frame into its final position.
      • The climbing frame must be horizontally level. You can use stones or wooden wedges to achieve this.
      • Pour the ready-mixed concrete into the holes until they are filled to approx. 60cm. Make sure that only the anchors are covered with concrete, and that the posts remain free.
      • When the concrete has set, you can fill in the rest with topsoil.

Please ensure that the supporting posts of your climbing frame are in contact with the ground when concreting them in. Correct anchorage is necessary for the stability of your climbing frame and helps to prevent danger spots. It also protects your screws from premature rusting.

Do I need a foundation plan to construct my climbing frame?

A foundation plan is not necessary as our playground equipment is first fully assembled and then set in concrete in its final place. You can find more information about the construction of the basic frame in the question "How is the base frame constructed and how are the anchors set in concrete?".

Is it necessary to pre-drill the holes for the screws?

Once the wood of your climbing frame has dried, we recommend pre-drilling holes before screwing in the screws. This minimises the risk of cracks appearing. This also prevents the alloy of the screws from being damaged and helps to avoid premature rusting.

Where can I find the construction manual for assembling Wickey playground equipment?

Your assembly instructions will be sent along with your order in the enclosed screw bag. In the unlikely event that you do not receive your instructions, please use our contact form to get in touch with our customer services team. We will send them to you as quickly as possible.

Can the playground equipment be constructed differently from the way described in the instructions?

As parents, the welfare and safety of your children is always your - and our - top priority. For this reason, we recommend that you construct our climbing frames as shown in our assembly instructions. Although almost all of our climbing frames are constructed and designed in such a way that they could be assembled mirror-inverted, you can avoid danger spots by assembling them according to the assembly instructions.

      Which wood does Wickey use?

Impregnated Wickey wood made of pine or spruce is naturally and sustainably cultivated and is known for particular outdoor durability. It provides our products with a firm footing that ensures both fun and safety.

How and when can I reach you?

You can reach us via contact form and via good old telephone.

You can reach us from Monday to Friday, between 8 am and 3 pm, at the following number:+44 (0)330 808 0240

Please note our information on our hotline hours.

Can the courier help transport the playground equipment onto my property?

Unfortunately, this is not possible due to organisational reasons. Delivery is to your kerb - and then it's your turn.

How do I send back an item?

If the goods to be returned are forwarding goods, we will coordinate a pick-up date for the forwarding agent with you and assume the entire costs of the return.

If the parcels are smaller, however, we kindly ask you to return them to a parcel service provider of your choice yourself.

Tip: Always choose the same parcel service provider who was also responsible for the delivery of your goods. This is usually the cheapest option.

For a fast and smooth process we recommend you to use our return form. However, this procedure is not obligatory.
